Contest Rules
-
The contestant who consumes the most hot dogs in a five-minute period will be awarded the winner.
-
One Hot Dog will be counted towards the participants score when one full hot dog and one full bun is consumed. (Example: If a competitor eats a bun, but none or partial of the dog, that counts for zero points and vice versa.)
-
When the five-minute time limit is up, contestants may not put any additional hot dogs or buns in their mouths.
-
Contestants will have 30-seconds to swallow what is in their mouths. Any contents remaining in a contestant’s mouth at the end of 30-seconds will not be counted.
-
Only a fully consumed hot dog with bun will be counted toward a contestant’s score. There will be no partial hot dog(s) added to a contestant’s score, only fully consumed hot dog and bun.
-
Participants are allowed water to aid with eating, dipping, or drenching.
-
Contestants can dunk hot dog(s) and bun(s) in cups for no longer than three seconds.
-
Only water can be consumed during the competition.
-
Contestants will have five hot dogs and buns plated in front of them. Contestants must finish one plate and move on to their next plate.
-
Contestants must swallow the hot dog entirely to count. Contestants are not allowed to use utensils.
-
Contestants are allowed to separate and break up the hot dog and bun, eat the bun and hot dog separately or eat the hot dog and bun together (whole).
-
Each contestant will be introduced at the start of the competition and will be given the final instructions and rules just prior to the competition’s start.
-
Contestants must keep their food down for the duration of the contest to be counted. If a contestant cannot keep their food down, they are disqualified.
-
Condiments will not be provided and not allowed.
-
In the event of a tie, there will be a three hot dog “eat-off,” which is a race to see who can eat the three fastest.
-
During the three hot dog "eat-off," the person who eats the hot dogs the fastest will be named the winner.
